Shamīca Spencer (StarElite): A Rising Music Mogul with a Harmonious Journey

Hailing from the vibrant city of Grand Rapids, MI, and now residing in the lively Newark, DE, Shamīca Spencer, known in the industry as StarElite, is steadily emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the world of music moguls. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering passion for music and her evolution from a gifted artist to a visionary influencer in the music realm.

Early Musical Whispers

Shamīca's love affair with music commenced at the tender age of 3. Her earliest recollections include being in the back seat of her father's car, soulfully singing "Lord Jesus Help Me (Help Somebody Else)" by Commissioned. Her grandmother captured these cherished moments, recording her joyful dance and melodious rendition of "It's Time" by the Winans. Remarkably, she took her first solo bow in the church choir at age 6.

A Star on the Rise

Shamīca's star continued to ascend as she ventured into the world of commercials at the young age of 7. She was featured in two Wendy's commercials for Fox17, contributing to their holiday round-up campaign in support of the 2nd Harvest Gleaners Food Bank. Her talents were already garnering recognition at this early stage.

Harmonious Pursuits

In the 5th grade, Shamīca embarked on her instrumental journey by taking up the clarinet, an instrument that would become a lifelong companion. She continued to play the clarinet through her high school years, even sharing her musical gifts within the confines of her church. Her prowess as a singer also shone brightly, as she stepped into the spotlight by participating in her first talent show during the 6th grade.

A Multifaceted Musician

High school marked a significant chapter in Shamīca's musical odyssey. She joined the marching band from the 9th to the 11th grade, expanding her musical repertoire to include instruments like the Bass Clarinet, Tuba, Chimes, Marimba, Belles, piano, and organ. Her 8th-grade year saw her participation in the school choir, a journey that culminated in her directing and performing in the choir during her senior year. Among her favorite instruments are the Hammond B3 organ, Bass guitar, and clarinet.

The Audition That Sparked Transformation

In 2003, Shamīca took a daring step by auditioning for Interscope Records at the prestigious Wealthy Theater in Grand Rapids, MI. The presence of esteemed record executives at the audition acted as a catalyst, prompting a pivotal shift in her aspirations—from wanting to be an artist to envisioning a career as a music mogul.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

Shamīca's entrepreneurial spirit came to the fore as she founded and led Star Beyond LLC, a virtual call center, for an impressive six years. Her unwavering commitment to nurturing emerging talent led her to establish Star Beyond Elite, a record label, and artist development company, which thrived for four years. Currently, she holds the role of COO at Diamond Fox Records, a position she assumed after partnering with music legend D'LaVance in 2020 to co-found the record label. Their venture officially launched in 2022. In 2022, she further expanded her horizons by joining forces with Amos Drummond, embarking on several projects slated for launch in late 2023 and early 2024. These projects aim to provide independent artists a platform to showcase their talents within their communities.

Harmonious Hobbies

Beyond her professional pursuits, Shamīca finds immense joy in her hobbies, which include listening to music and imparting her knowledge to her children. She teaches them how to read music and play the clarinet, sharing valuable insights about the music industry. Her eclectic musical taste spans across genres, from the soulful embrace of Gospel to the infectious rhythms of Jpop. Among her favorite artists are D'LaVance, Fred Hammond, Twinkie Clark, Masego, Samoht, Alxndr London, and Ayumi Hamasaki.

Inspirations and Dreams

Shamīca draws inspiration from a multitude of sources. At the age of 18, she had the privilege of meeting Fred Hammond, who imparted encouraging words that have remained with her and continue to inspire her pursuit of music. She finds inspiration in her big brother Michael, her best friend Shanicka (who she has been friends with since they were 15 years old), her business partners D'LaVance and Amos, and the influential figure Suzanne de Passe. Her ultimate dream is to follow in the footsteps of Suzanne de Passe.

Shaping the Future of Music

At present, Shamīca is ardently engaged in the relaunch of Star Beyond Media—a multi-faceted media company offering internet radio stations, TV stations, and comprehensive marketing and advertising resources for independent artists. Simultaneously, she is dedicated to restructuring and relaunching Star Beyond Academy, a pioneering 100% virtual high school and adult learning music academy, centered on artist development and artist etiquette.
